In a randomized, randomized clinical trial to evaluate the effect of lotion containing essential oil on the relief of hemorrhoid symptoms and compare it with anti-hemorrhoid ointment, 106 patients with hemorrhoids were randomly assigned a lotion containing essential oil and ointment or anti-hemorrhoid ointment and anti-hemorrhoid ointment. Used for 2 weeks. At the beginning and end of the study, the severity and prevalence of hemorrhoid symptoms were assessed. At the end of the study, all evaluated symptoms (bleeding, persistent pain, pain during defecation, anal irritation and itching, heaviness and tenesmus) were significantly reduced in both groups (p <0.001). There was no significant difference between the lotion containing case essential oil and anti-hemorrhoid ointment in terms of improvement of the evaluated symptoms (p <0.05). According to the researchers, the results of this study provided the first clinical evidence of the effectiveness of the essential oil in relieving the symptoms of hemorrhoids and further supporting its use as an anti-hemorrhoid agent in traditional medicine.

During a double-blind, uninformed controlled clinical trial, 67 patients with grade I and II hemorrhoids used an essential oil ointment or anti-hemorrhoid ointment for 2 weeks. The results showed that both drugs had a significant reduction in bleeding, pain during defecation, persistent pain, itching, heaviness and burning of the anus and tenesmus, and there was a statistically significant difference between the symptoms before and after treatment (p <0.01).

از نظر کاهش میزان خونریزی تفاوت معنی‌داری بین پماد حاوی اسانس مورد و پماد آنتی هموروئید وجود داشت (p<0.052).لذا محققین نتیجه گرفتند که می‌توان از پماد حاوی اسانس مورد برای رفع علائم هموروئید درجه I و II استفاده کرد.

در یک کارآزمایی بالینی تصادفی، دوسو بی‌خبر و کنترل شده روی بیماران مبتلا به درجه یک و دو هموروئید، یک گروه (68 نفر) شیاف حاوی اسانس مورد و گروه دیگر (52 نفر) شیاف آنتی هموروئید متداول را دو مرتبه در روز به مدت دو هفته مصرف کردند. در ابتدا و انتهای مطالعه علائم بیماران مانند شدت خونریزی، شدت درد هنگام اجابت مزاج، درد مداوم و تنسموس در هر دو گروه ثبت و در پایان با یکدیگر و با شروع مطالعه مقایسه شدند. بر اساس نتایج این بررسی شیاف حاوی اسانس مورد باعث کاهش درجه، علائم بیماری و همچنین نمره کل شدت بیماری شد. میزان تغییرات نمرات شدت خونریزی و درد مداوم در میان دو گروه مورد مطالعه، دارای اختلاف معنی داری بود (p<0.01) و کاهش شدت علائم مذکور در گروه شیاف حاوی اسانس مورد بیشتر بود. با توجه به اثر بخشی شیاف حاوی اسانس مورد، می‌توان آن را برای رفع علائم هموروئید درجه I و II استفاده کرد.
