In a double-blind uncontrolled clinical trial, 71 patients with type I diarrhea ranged in age from 10 to 65 years; They were randomly divided into two groups of Lomex oral drops (n = 39) or placebo (n = 32) for a period of 3 days. The dose was 20 drops 3 times a day and patients were followed up 24, 48 and 72 hours after initial admission and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software. Based on the results of this study; The mean time to stop diarrhea in the group receiving Lumex was 17.3 hours and compared to the group receiving placebo (35.3 hours) was significant (P = 0.013). After 48 hours, the number of diarrhea episodes was lower in the Lumex group and was statistically significant than the placebo (P = 0.003). Also, 24 hours after the start of treatment, the frequency of heartburn was 15.4% in users of Lomex oral drops and 40.6% in the placebo group (P = 0.16). The results of this study showed the value of Lomex oral drops in relieving the symptoms of diarrhea compared to placebo.
