Varicose veins are dilated spiral veins that are commonly seen on the lower extremities.
Risk factors for varicose veins include: chronic cough, constipation, family history of venous disease, female gender, obesity, old age, pregnancy and prolonged standing.
The main pathophysiology of varicose veins is discussed, but genetic predisposition, valve insufficiency, weakened vessel walls, and increased intravenous pressure are involved.
Symptoms of varicose veins include a feeling of heaviness and pain, itching or burning, and worsening of symptoms following prolonged standing. Potential complications of varicose veins include infection, leg ulcers, changes in blood flow (stasis), and thrombosis.
Some common treatment options include avoiding prolonged standing and fatigue, holding the affected limb high, exercising, applying external pressure, medical treatment, modulating cardiovascular risk factors, reducing peripheral inflammation, and losing weight.
However, there are more invasive treatments such as laser, sclerotherapy and surgery. The choice of treatment depends on several factors, including the patient's symptoms, patient preference, cost, and physician skills.
Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is mainly due to venous hypertension and secondary capillary to venous return disorder that causes persistent and chronic venous stasis in the skin of the lower extremities that manifests itself as the condition changes.
In the study of the effect of grape seed extract on capillary resistance disorders in patients with hypertension and diabetes, the amount of 150 mg of grape seed extract per day was well tolerated and capillary resistance was significantly improved. p <0.0005) and (p <0.005. In an open-label study to evaluate the initial safety and tolerance of chestnut in the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency, patients took one 50 mg tablet of chestnut twice a day for 8 weeks. At the second and third visits, patients reported good and relatively good tolerance to the drug (90% and 95% of cases, respectively).

2

The difference in the mean value of the symptoms before the start of treatment with the third visit was statistically significant and the circumference of the ankle and lower leg was reduced.
Most patients reported the effectiveness of the drug as very good or good. The results of this study showed that the 50 mg tablet of Indian Chestnut for stage I and II of Wiedmer classification of chronic venous insufficiency is effective and safe to use and well tolerated.
Grape seed is used as a source of oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) and in practice as a substitute for pycnogenol. In one study, daily consumption of 45 mg of grape OPCs reduced CVI symptoms, especially lower limb heaviness, in 108 patients.
In a double-blind placebo-controlled study of 219 patients with CVI, daily intake of 360 or 720 mg of grape leaf extract was significantly more effective than placebo in reducing edema, pain relief, and other symptoms, and researchers reported improvement in 720 Mg per day was slightly more stable.
In this study, the side effects were mainly mild gastrointestinal distress and sometimes headache, and blood tests and physical examination did not show any side effects.
In another study of 39 patients with CVI, by consuming 360 mg of grape leaf extract twice a day, after 2 weeks of treatment, a significant improvement in patients' criteria and lower limb volume was observed.
Also, in a cross-sectional study of 71 patients with CVI, daily intake of 360 mg of grape leaf extract reduced the size of the lower extremities and increased microvascular blood flow.
The combination of chestnut and grape seed is a unique antioxidant that promotes the health of veins, capillaries and the circulatory system.
Aceen (the active ingredient in Indian chestnut) strengthens veins and prevents fluid from leaking out of blood vessels, thus preventing edema.
